Premium General Purpose Wildflower Meadow Seed
Our special traditional meadow seed mix of grasses and wildflowers produces a stunning and complex habitat and long-season display with a range of native perennials wildflowers and grasses suitable for most soils in Britain, giving you a good start to create a traditional meadow. Unlike most "off the shelf" mixes it includes 30% wildflowers rather than the 20% or even 10% you'll find in most mixes, and the grass element includes a goodly helping of one of our most beautiful meadow grasses, Crested dogstail. This is the seed mix we used in our orchard meadow.
It has a long flowering window, starting in April with cowslip and ending when you take a hay cut, in August. This and the diversity of native wildflowers makes it an excellent resource for wildlife of all sorts, and fascinating for you. As the wildflowers in the mix are mostly perennials, they won't flower in their first year but there are some annuals in it which will.
Look at our Basic General Purpose Mix for a cheaper but less diverse meadow mixture, with a higher proportion of grasses: wildflowers. Both mixes are excellent value for money and made up with set %s of wildflowers and grasses, unlike direct harvest mixes. Read our blog to understand the difference. The wildflower seeds have guaranteed UK provenance, and the grasses are certified. Requires full sun.

We strongly recommend reading up on wildflower meadows before buying seed - see our resources section and brief guide to preparation and aftercare, which includes links to our "how to" blogs and video.
Although we test our seed and it has high germination rates, you need to be careful about initial care and establishing an annual regime. Don't be put off though - once you get the hang of it it's pretty straightforward.
