Fritillaries (Fritillaria meleagris)

Our beautiful native fritillaries (or "Snakeshead" fritillaries) are increasingly rare, and in the wild restricted to a few damp meadows in Southern England. Fritillaria meleagris is the purple-red chequered flower, and we also sell the naturally occurring white form, Fritillaria meleagris alba (pictured). These fritillaries should be planted at least 4 inches deep in soil which doesn't dry out. Their April flowers are very striking when the bulbs become naturalized in lawns.

Please note that bulbs are despatched from August to November.
