Chalk and Limestone Meadow Seed Mix

A specially selected meadow seed mix of British grasses and wildflowers for calcareous - chalk and limestone - soils. Some of our most beautiful wildflowers thrive in these types of impoverished thin soils. Lower fertility really suits wildflowers, as grasses and vigorous thugs like dock and nettle won't out-compete them. We also sell a less diverse mix of plug plants for chalk and limestone soils without the grasses.
Like all our native wildflower seed, the seed in this mix has guaranteed UK provenance and origin. The meadow grasses are certified.

Smaller packet sizes of similar seed mixes for calcareous soils are available here at our sister website.

We strongly recommend reading up on wildflower meadows before buying seed - see our resources section and brief guide to preparation and aftercare, which includes links to our "how to" blogs and video.

Although we test our seed and it has high germination rates, you need to be careful about initial care and establishing an annual regime. Don't be put off though - once you get the hang of it it's pretty straightforward.
