Dwarf Birch (Betula nana)
Betula nana grows above 300m on Scottish mountains - the southernmost extent of its range. Its mostly a plant of Arctic tundra, and found in places like Iceland, Greenland and Canada. In the Alps it grows up to over 2000m! In the UK it's also a native plant, albeit increasingly rare. We're very pleased to have found some to sell.
Dwarf birch likes full sun and poor, well drained, acidic soil. Visually it's unmistakably a birch, with small toothed leaves, but has the habit of a small shrub. The leaves turn red in autumn.
We're supplying dwarf birch plants as cell grown - like giant plug plants - 40/60cm tall, from Scotland. We sell them in multiples of 5.
