Plum Tree - Czar
Czar was named in honour of the Russian Emperor who was visiting the UK, a cross by Thomas Rivers of Prince Engelbert and his own Early Prolific. The compact growth of this variety of plum tree is very suitable for the smaller garden ( but go for the less vigorous St. Julian A rootstock) . The large purple fruits are tender with a pleasant slightly acidic flavour. Czar can be used as a dessert when fully ripe, otherwise a good cooking plum. It is fully self fertile, which makes Czar a good choice is you are looking for just one plum tree.
Will grow to a mature tree of around 4m, and only require initial support with a cane.
Supplier: R.V. Roger Ltd.
All our plum trees, inclduing Czar, are bare root, so they are only available between November and April. During lifting season, there will be a delay between placing the order and dispatching due to pressure of orders, which are dealt with in date sequence, and the weather. Orders taken from June-October will be confirmed in late October/ early November after a nursery stock take, for dispatch from November. Please consult our planting and care guide on receipt of your order.
