Whitebeam (Sorbus aria)

Whitebeam is slow growing and short lived (up to 80 years), but a beautiful medium sized tree, particularly in the spring when its white leaves emerge. It has small white flowers, then bears small red fruit in the autumn, which the birds like. Whitebeam is hardy and easygoing, and will thrive on light soil in exposed, cold, and coastal sites like the related Rowan. Sorbus aria tends to be found naturally on woodland edges on calcareous soils, and has been widely planted in towns as an avenue tree. It's pretty rare in the wild. Whitebeam (Sorbus aria)

Like all the native trees we sell, our Whitebeam are grown in the UK from UK origin seed. Our 2 year old 60/90cm plants are sold in multiples of 5.

Suppliers: RV Roger, British Hardwood Trees.

Please note that standard sizes relate to tree girths in cm. We can supply large Whitebeam trees with girths of up to 25cm (i.e. 15 to 20ft tall). As delivery charges for them vary considerably for them please ask for a quote. See our planting and size guide for details and tips on planting.

All these trees are bare root, and are consequently available for delivery from November until March. During the lifting season there may be up to a month's delay between placing the order and dispatching (longer for standards), due to weather conditions or pressure of orders, which are dealt with in date sequence. Orders placed for Sorbus aria trees between March and September are confirmed in October ready for dispatch from November.
